A Diamond Bar man has been arrested on suspicion of the killing of his girlfriend after trying to re-enter the United States from Mexico. Christopher Mendez, 35, was identified as a person of interest in the death of Nicole Marquisee, also 35, found deceased in a Huntington Beach home in late May. KTLA reported that Mendez was "tentatively scheduled" for arraignment on Tuesday, with his bail set at $2 million.

Authorities responded to the 1100 block of England Street in Huntington Beach, where Marquisee's body was discovered. Mendez, who shared a dating relationship with Marquisee, was apprehended at the US-Mexico border on Friday, June 7, as he tried to quickly re-enter the country. According to a FOXLA article, he is currently being held in custody following his arrest.

The Huntington Beach Police Department has not disclosed information regarding the manner or motive of Marquisee's death. However, it was confirmed that the death was being investigated as a homicide after authorities gathered evidence at the scene where her body was discovered around 2:30 p.m. on May 31. Hoodline mentioned that despite the suspect's arrest, the police did not believe there was any imminent threat to public safety.
