
Firefighters in the Green Meadows neighborhood quickly extinguished a structure fire late Monday evening. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the fire was reported at 11:34 PM at a single-family home located at 1107 E 118th St. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke billowing from the building. A rapid assault was launched with hose lines as the teams tackled the blaze which had taken a significant hold in the attic.
The coordinated response included ventilation efforts where firefighters cut holes in the roof to release the smoke. This operation, crucial for both visibility and safety, allowed those below to effectively reach and douse the flames through the home's ceiling. The LAFD reported that the fire was extinguished by the crews within 19 minutes, a testament to their efficiency and expertise in such situations. Notably, there were no injuries reported as a result of the incident. Investigations into the cause of the fire are currently underway.
Council District 15 was the jurisdiction where this incident transpired, with multiple LAFD units responding, including Engines 21, 33, 65, Trucks 21, 33, 64, and Battalion Chiefs 1 and 13 among others. Support was also provided by the RA units for any potential medical needs on the scene. Fortunately, their services were not required for injuries related to the fire.
