A mother in Farmington Hills, identified as 47-year-old Patricia Wright, is facing a slew of charges after reportedly firing a gun at a car filled with people confronting her son over domestic violence allegations. Her son, 19-year-old Brendon Ravon Ian Wright, has been charged with misdemeanor domestic violence, as reported by WWJ Newsradio.

Shortly after the fracas broke out at 2 a.m. on Tuesday near 11 Mile and Halsted roads, the Farmington Hills Police Department indicated that the gunfire incident followed accusations that the younger Wright had assaulted his girlfriend. According to police, Patricia Wright emerged from the apartment complex armed and discharged her firearm as the group drove away, barely missing them. The round continued, penetrating a neighbor's residence, "narrowly missing multiple innocent people," officials said in a statement obtained by ClickOnDetroit.

The incident not only put the girlfriend's friends in jeopardy but also endangered others in the vicinity. Patricia Wright's actions have resulted in serious charges including discharging a firearm into a dwelling, and three counts of felonious assault with a firearm. Farmington Hills police Chief Jeff King remarked, "Instead, she chose to retrieve a firearm from a locked safe and recklessly fire at the group as they were attempting to remove themselves from the situation," according to a news release quoted by The Oakland Press.

This event marks the second shooting occurrence in Farmington Hills within a three-day span, raising concerns about a rise in domestic violence-related violent episodes. Chief King highlighted the possibility for deescalation that Patricia Wright bypassed, noting she is additionally charged with four felony firearm violations. Both Wrights have entered not guilty pleas, with pre-trial conferences scheduled for next month. While Patricia Wright's bond was set at $75,000, her son was granted a $5,000 personal recognizance bond, allowing him to avoid jail prior to further court proceedings.

As the community reels from the recent spate of violence, the Farmington Hills Police Department continues its investigation, with the court dates for the accused forthcoming.
