A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle at the intersection of N. Perris Boulevard and Avocado Avenue in Perris. The incident occurred on the evening of May 31, and authorities were called to the scene at approximately 8:17 p.m., as reported by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered the pedestrian lying unresponsive in the roadway with significant injuries. Despite the lifesaving efforts of deputies and medical personnel, the victim was ultimately pronounced dead at a local hospital. The driver involved in the collision remained at the scene and, according to the sheriff’s department, was cooperative during the investigation.
The Perris Station Reconstruction Team took over the case and their initial assessment indicated that the pedestrian had attempted to cross the southbound lanes of N. Perris Boulevard at the time of the accident. Authorities are still investigating whether drugs or alcohol may have played a role in the collision. The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed pending notification of the next of kin.
A temporary road closure was implemented along N. Perris Boulevard, between Avocado Avenue and Orange Avenue, to facilitate the processing of the collision site and evidence collection.
