
A multi-vehicle collision near the intersection of Vista Del Mar and Imperial Highway, close to LAX, resulted in two fatalities and three individuals requiring hospitalization, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The incident, which took place Tuesday before 8 p.m., involved a white Tesla and another SUV. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the deaths and the conditions of the survivors to KTLA.
Response teams from the LAFD worked to extricate two victims from the wreckage, eventually transporting four patients to local hospitals with conditions ranging from fair to critical. The identities of the deceased and the survivors have not been disclosed, however, the LAFD identified the survivors' ages and genders as an 18-year-old male, a 16-year-old male, an 18-year-old female, and a 30-year-old female. The scene captured by local news showed extensive emergency services response, working amidst the significantly damaged vehicles.
As the investigation into what precipitated this tragic event continues, police have yet to release any details on the cause of the crash. Meanwhile, traffic in the surrounding area experienced delays as the cleanup and on-site investigation proceeded through the night and into the following morning.
