Last night, firefighters raced to the scene of a harrowing auto rollover incident that caused traffic to snarl on the EB 118 Fwy near the 210 Fwy interchange. According to a Los Angeles Fire Department alert, the accident, which occurred at 10:20 PM, involved multiple vehicles and resulted in three individuals needing immediate medical attention.
The Los Angeles Fire Department described the emergency efforts to free the victims trapped inside the mangled vehicles. Firefighters had to swiftly and carefully deploy hydraulic rescue tools to extricate two victims, who were then transported to a nearby trauma center in a critical condition. In order to quickly stabilize the situation, the responders worked against the clock and traffic constraints to swiftly deliver the necessary aid.
A third victim, injured but not trapped in the wreckage, was also attended by emergency medical crews and transported to the hospital in moderate condition. The LAFD has not released details regarding the cause of the accident or the identities of those involved at this time.
The California Highway Patrol, which logged the incident as CHP Log #2723, is currently investigating the incident's cause. While the accident's aftermath was cleared, the eastbound lanes of the 118 Freeway were closed to traffic, causing delays that extended late into the evening. Motorists were advised to seek alternate routes as crews worked to thoroughly clear to scene of debris and ensure safe conditions for the morning commute.
