Fort Worth businesses have the chance to quickly showcase their commitment to sustainability as the City of Fort Worth rolls out its annual Environmental Excellence Awards program. Companies that excel in pollution prevention, water conservation, air quality, and waste reduction can enter the competition for a range of honors, according to the City of Fort Worth.
Since its commencement in 1999, the awards program has expanded its scope to not only honor firms for their dedication to environmental awareness but also to acknowledge forward-thinking practices. The Environmental Excellence Awards now include categories such as Innovation Awards, honoring imaginative waste reduction and recycling efforts. The program is backed by Fort Worth Water and the Environmental Services Department, and the window to apply runs until August 15, 2024, as reported by the City of Fort Worth.
The awards ceremony, slated for a November 13 event at River Ranch in the Stockyards, will feature awards such as the Star, Associate, Partnership, and Stewardship levels. Additionally, an Industry of the Year will be selected, celebrates companies that have shown years of uninterrupted compliance with wastewater regulations.
Beyond the traditional honors, the Environmental Excellence Awards also commend efforts in creative areas such as Land Redevelopment and Stormwater management. The Innovation Awards single out to honor exceptional use of water and process improvements amongst Fort Worth's businesses. To be eligible, applicants must comply with local, state, and federal codes and laws and be free of any outstanding violations, as mentioned in the City of Fort Worth.
Community engagement doesn't go unnoticed as the program will also hand out a Community Litter Control Award and recognize the Keep Fort Worth Beautiful Green Educator of the Year. The program underscores the importance of environmental stewardship while celebrating local businesses and individuals who lead by example in incorporating sustainable practices into their operations.
