Engaging the blaze, over 125 fire personnel from Napa and Sonoma counties brought significant air and ground resources to the forefront. The firefighters, injured by the steep and rocky terrain under the hot summer conditions, were later transported to local hospitals for further evaluation and treatment. It was expected for the injured firefighters to make a full recovery, providing some relief amid the firefight. The officers of CAL FIRE law enforcement at the scene have subsequently taken up the task to investigate the blaze's origin.
Luckily, despite the ferocity of the flames, no mandatory evacuations were issued, though several residents received evacuation warnings. These were lifted later in the evening, as announced by Napa County at 6:22 p.m. on Wednesday. While officials did not report any lost residential structures, CAL FIRE LNU did note that "No residential structures were destroyed or damaged in the fire, only 1 outbuilding was destroyed."
Concurrent with the fire, a power outage struck 1,433 customers in the Deer Park and Pope Valley areas, which, according to PG&E's outage website, started at 2:16 p.m. but was resolved by 8 p.m. Crystal Springs Road experienced partial closure earlier in the day to facilitate emergency responses but opened later as control over the fire grew. The dedication of the numerous fire personnel culminated in containment reaching 75%, per CAL FIRE LNU's update, allowing for all four hospitalized firefighters to be treated and released, signaling a pause in the emergency started earlier that Wednesday.
