The Glendale Police Department's ongoing fight against street-level crime materialized in a series of arrests and firearm seizures earlier this month. Tackling a range of unlawful activities, from illegal gun possession to narcotics distribution, officers pulled multiple weapons off local streets, reinforcing their stance on community safety.
According to the City of Glendale, on June 10, one of the incidents occurred on June 6 when Special Enforcement Detail officers stopped Andy Gomez, a 35-year-old Los Angeles resident, for traffic violations around Adams and Palmer. Despite initial resistance from Gomez, who is a known gang member, and the female passenger, police executed a vehicle search that yielded a 9mm ghost gun, unauthorized access cards, and narcotics. Both individuals were promptly arrested and faced a list committee of gun, narcotics, and identity theft charges.
The Glendale SED's vigilance continued into the night of June 8 as officers patrolling an area marred by gang-related activities intercepted Angel Cruz Reyes, 20, from Burbank, as per the City of Glendale. A patrol unit encountered Reyes' vehicle in the vicinity of Western and Lake. A thorough inspection surfaced a hidden loaded firearm and gang-related items within the car, leading to the arrest of Reyes and two minors for possession of a concealed firearm and gang-related offenses.
Before these arrests, Glendale SED officers made another gun-related arrest on June 4. Details of this case remain limited, however, it adds to a swelling narrative of proactive law enforcement within Glendale's precincts. Specific information about the June 4th incident can be found on Glendale's official website here.
