Residents of Keller should mark their calendars for a suite of public hearings that will define the town's landscape. Slated for Tuesday, June 25, 2024, the Planning & Zoning Commission will tackle six key items, starting at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Keller Town Hall. High on the agenda is Mindwell Therapy's permit for a new space, a unique garage build on Lavena Street, and a residential construction oversight on the same street, among others.
The Town Center Addition is bracing for a new entrant. On offer is a Specific Use Permit for Mindwell Therapy to open in a 1,192-square-foot space at 201 Town Center Lane, Ste. 1103. Katherine McCoy steps forward as the applicant, looking to solidify Mindwell's foothold within a lot that spans approximately 5.55 acres, according to the City of Keller.
Meanwhile, a homeowner duo, Lisa Diemand, and Robert Mueller, are seeking to build an approximately 1,250 square-foot garage ahead of their residence at 569 Lavena Street—a move that requires both an SUP and a variance. Similarly, Will Ann Brewer at 529 Lavena Street aims to live in an existing structure while a new residence rises from the ground. This unusual request is one among the diverse docket items the Commission will weigh.
Another resident, Jose Ortiz Rivera, is looking to validate an existing detached carport via an SUP on his 0.15-acre property located at 1856 Highland Drive East. The case presents a puzzle piece in the larger mosaic of how residential life morphs under the influence of individual needs and collective regulation. Community members interested in the future fabric of Keller Springs can peruse a proposed Future Land Use Plan amendment and a major zoning change that will introduce various new residential lot sizes.
