
In Loma Linda, a late-night encounter in a park led to an arrest when a sheriff's deputy discovered an unregistered weapon. According to a report by KTLA, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department stopped a vehicle at Hulda Crooks Park just before 11:35 p.m. on June 17, 2024, citing a violation of city ordinances for being in the park after hours.
The deputies detained the vehicle's occupants, during the check a loaded firearm magazine was spotted on the passenger floorboard, which belonged to Caleb Ronald Thompson, a 20-year-old from Colton, during the subsequent search, deputies discovered an unregistered firearm within Thompson's backpack. According to the Nixle alert from the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, the gun was tan and lacked a serial number.
Thompson was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, a violation of California Penal Code 25400. He was booked at the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino.
