The Long Beach Police Department has recently reported a series of shootings and gun confiscations within the city limits. Two individuals were shot in separate incidents on the evening of June 5, both sustaining non-life-threatening injuries, according to LBPD. The first shooting occurred at the 2000 block of Pasadena Avenue where a verbal altercation between the victim and the suspect, who were acquaintances, escalated to violence.
The second shooting took place near the intersection of the Los Angeles River and 405 Freeway, where a male adult was shot outside of a tent. Officers who arrived on the scene failed to locate evidence of the shooting, but the Long Beach Fire Department rendered aid to the victim who was then transported to a hospital. As of the present, the motives behind both shootings remain unclear, and investigations are actively ongoing, with victim and witness cooperation playing a critical role in their outcomes.
Additionally, on the same night, there was an incident involving gunfire at the junction of 20th Street and Pasadena Avenue, as per the LBPD. Authorities arrived to evidence of a shooting, though, fortunately, there were no injuries. Information regarding potential suspects or the motive is still under review by detectives tasked with unraveling the night's chaos.
Meanwhile, amidst the turmoil, LBPD officers managed to remove two illegal firearms from the streets on June 5, before the shootings. During a traffic stop on the 1000 block of Pacific Avenue, two individuals, both prohibited from possessing firearms, were taken into custody, and a third suspect was arrested on an unrelated no-bail felony warrant, as reported by the LBPD.
