According to an official police report, the first incident happened at approximately 11:34 p.m. on the juncture of 11th Street and Obispo Avenue, where a male adult was injured following shots fired from a vehicle. Despite the quick response, officers arrived to find the suspect had already fled. The victim was transported to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury to his lower body.
The second shooting took place earlier the same evening, at around 8:54 p.m., in the proximity of Cherry Avenue between Harding Street and Artesia Boulevard. A male passenger in a vehicle was wounded after a verbal dispute escalated with a group of individuals on motorcycles, who subsequently blocked the road. Shots were fired, striking the victim, who then received care at a local hospital for an injury described as non-life-threatening. The LBPD officers' effort to identify the crime scene proved unsuccessful, and the triggerman remains unidentified.
In another display of proactive policing, officers from the High Crime Focus Team made progress in the city's fight against illegal firearms. On the same day, around 6:55 p.m., as they attempted to stop a suspect on a bicycle, the individual fled but discarded a firearm and ammunition in the process, which officers then recovered safely. The suspect's identity, however, remains unspecified.
