The Long Beach Police Department provided details on a series of incidents that unfolded over the past night, including shootings and the confiscation of firearms. As reported by the LBPD, the city struggles with ongoing gun violence.

In a no-hit shooting incident in the 600 block of Golden Avenue on June 15, a female adult sustained minor injuries after a physical altercation between two groups led to an unidentified suspect firing a weapon. Fortunately, no one was hit by the gunfire. "Officers located evidence indicating a shooting had occurred," LBPD shared. In the other event, dating to the early hours of June 16, officers were called to a hit shooting on the 300 block of Hermosa Avenue where a verbal dispute turned violent, resulting in a female adult being shot in the upper body by another female. The victim was taken to a local hospital and is reportedly in stable condition, while the suspect had fled before police arrived, even though a firearm was recovered from the scene.

The officers' presence on the streets the prior evening also resulted in the removal of two firearms during a traffic stop. Two individuals were arrested after being found in possession of the guns near 25th Street and Delta Avenue at approximately 9:50 p.m. "Great work officers! Last night, officers safely took two guns off the streets," stated the report after recovering the firearms and ensuring the suspects were taken into custody.
