
A man was shot to death in Monrovia, sparking a homicide investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. NBC Los Angeles reported the incident occurred on the 700 block of Duarte Road around 9:23 p.m., where police found the victim with a gunshot wound to the upper torso.
The victim, whose identity has been withheld, was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. An altercation among several individuals is believed to have escalated to the fatal event, the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, this according to a statement by the LASD.
Further details from CBS Los Angeles reveal the shooting took place during a party at the victim's residence, where two individuals described as transients were involved in a confrontation with the deceased. LASD officials currently have one person of interest detained, while the other sustained a leg injury from a gunshot and received treatment at a hospital.
Video footage from the scene captured first responders attending to a wounded man, yet his role in the incident remains unclear.
