The 26-year-old male victim, who had been part of a group leaving AMC Phipps Plaza 14 from what appeared to be the last show of the night, was found having suffered multiple gunshot wounds, an unsettling conclusion to what should have been a night of leisure and entertainment.
On-scene officials, including Atlanta Police Department Captain Joshua Holt, revealed to FOX 5 Atlanta that the altercation might have escalated from a dispute that broke out among the group, which led to the tragedy, Captain Holt further noting, "It appears, well, what we're getting so far is they were coming from the movies, the shooting happened once they got outside the movie theater." Medics swiftly transported the wounded man to Grady Memorial Hospital, offering a glimmer of hope as he began the road toward recovery; meanwhile, more than one shooter may have been involved, adding a layer of complexity to the case as bullets from multiple weapons were discovered.
