In the early hours of Saturday morning, tragedy struck in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago, as reported by The Chicago Tribune. A 30-year-old man was killed, and a 31-year-old woman was seriously wounded in what is described as a roadside shooting incident.

The duo were inside their car on the 3000 block of North Cicero Avenue when an assailant, driving an unidentified vehicle, pulled up and opened fire at around 2:32 a.m. Despite their injuries, the pair managed to make their way to Community First Hospital, the man succumbing to his wounds upon arrival; the woman remains in critical condition, the police said.

As of now, the authorities have not placed any suspects into custody and, the investigation into the shooting continues. Details about the motivation behind the act are yet to unfold.
