Century City is set to gain a new culinary landmark with Momofuku's announcement of its new eatery, Super Peach, scheduled to fling its doors open in the spring of 2025. David Chang's restaurant group, known for places like Chinatown's Majordomo, aims to mix it up with a 200-seat casual dining experience situated in the bustling Westfield Century City.
The incoming Super Peach takes over a former St. Marc Pub-Cafe location, offering diners a wallet-friendly option with average prices per person expected to hover around $50 to $60, according to Eater LA. The vibe promised to patrons leans more intimate, in contrast to Momofuku's Noodle Bar in New York's East Village, while maintaining an equally invigorating atmosphere.
The Super Peach brand continues the legacy of Momofuku's name, which hearkens to “lucky peach” in Japanese and pays homage to instant ramen inventor Momofuku Ando. Peaches have long been a motif within the company's branding, from restaurant decor to its former editorial venture, Lucky Peach.
Momofuku's journey has been complicated, marked by an array of New York City openings and pandemic-induced closures, as per the Eater LA report. Adding to recent history, the restaurant group's trademark enforcement attempt over the Chile crunch sparked substantial pushback, prompting Chang to retract the actions and apologize for the mishap, assuring that cease-and-desist letters on the subject would cease.
Super Peach's entry into the Westfield Century City retail space adds to an already tasty array of dining options. As detailed by Eater LA, the luxury shopping center anticipates the arrival of Katsuya and Casa Dani by modernist chef Dani García. Just a stone's throw away, the neighborhood around the office towers will soon welcome New York's Sushi Noz, Miami's Kyu, and Montreal's Estiatorio Milos near the Fairmont Century Plaza - making Century City an even more desirable destination for food enthusiasts.
