
The Metropolitan Police Department is calling for the public's help after an armed robbery occurred on the streets of Southeast D.C. The incident took place in broad daylight, around 12:18 p.m., Sunday, June 23, according to a recent release from MPD. Witnesses reported that the suspects aggressively confronted the victims in the 1500 block of Freedom Way, Southeast.
During the confrontation, one of the suspects revealed a handgun and, after successfully dispossessing the victims of their property, the perpetrators escaped in their vehicle. Brandishing the weapon to intimidate, the suspects' identities remain unknown as they fled swiftly from the scene. Detectives are now scouring for leads to locate these individuals and the vehicle tied to the crime.
Additional details regarding the suspects or the vehicle used in the crime have not been released to the public at this time. MPD has not provided descriptions of the suspects or elaborated on what type of vehicle they were seen fleeing in. The department has asked that anyone with information about the robbery to come forward and assist law enforcement in their investigation.
