The National League of Cities (NLC) Centennial Roadshow is bringing its cross-country celebration of community achievement and city innovation to the heart of Texas. Fort Worth has been selected to join the "100 Years, 100 Cities" tour, which commemorates a century of local government advancements and advocacy for municipalities across America.

The roadshow is set to hit 100 cities nationwide, and Fort Worth's inclusion is timed to coincide with the city's 175th anniversary this summer. The initiative started to unfold in February at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, the birthplace of NLC. Since that kickoff, NLC has begun to traverse the states to showcase the unique tales of cities that have each fought to firmly establish themselves amid a changing nation.

As reported by the City of Fort Worth, Mayor Pro Tem and District 5 Councilmember Gyna Bivens, who sits on the NLC Board of Directors, was instrumental in winning Fort Worth the spot on the coveted list. Bivens stated, "I am honored that Fort Worth was selected as one of the 100 cities to be part of the NLC roadshow." She emphasized the significance of collaboration in the building of resilient cities designed to outlast generations.

Clarence Anthony, CEO and executive director of the NLC, expressed his eagerness for the future, as per the City of Fort Worth. "Each of these cities has played a pivotal role in moving our local communities forward and has a unique story that showcases transformative change," he said. "As we celebrate and chart a course for the next 100 years, I am more excited than ever for the future of cities, towns and villages and look forward to continuing important work together."

The NLC Centennial Roadshow will cap off its nationwide tour in Tampa, Florida with the annual City Summit conference this November. Here, the experiences and achievements of the 100 cities featured on the tour will be shared, encouraging a dialogue aimed at shaping the landscape of local government for the coming century.
