San Bernardino County is setting up the stage for a redefined retail landscape as it launches a new rail infrastructure, which appears set to boost consumer interest and economic diversity. According to San Bernardino County,  the integration of this transportation project, alongside a nearly 10,000-acre master plan development, can potentially reshape the retail experience in what is both the largest county in the United States by size and the 15th-most populous.

The affluence of this area is brought into focus, with Derek Armstrong, director of the San Bernardino County Economic Development Department, noting, "We talk about San Bernardino County’s affordability and, for good reason, but I think this chapter of our development will emphasize the broad growth and economic diversification taking place across the unincorporated areas of the county and all 24 cities," as stated in the San Bernardino County.

Adjacent to Cucamonga Station, The Resort is a mixed-use development promising a blend of 3,450 residences and 220,000 square feet of retail space, purposing for innovation and comfort within its 160 acres. Another initiative, the "Epicenter Master Plan," approved by the Rancho Cucamonga City Council at the end of 2023, plans to bring new life to the 56-acre area surrounding the Epicenter Sports Complex, according to Armstrong, as per San Bernardino County.

San Bernardino County's burgeoning industry is similarly reflected in its low retail vacancy rates and rising rents. With a suite of retail projects in the pipeline, Armstrong anticipates the county's retail sector "is poised to continue to thrive."
