A series of residential burglaries in Chino Hills led to the arrest of a suspect identified as 58-year-old Ontario resident, Kevin Ennis. According to a report from the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, the attempted break-in occurred on the morning of May 30, around 8:45 a.m. at a home in the 15000 block of Monte Vista Avenue, though the suspect was unable to gain entry. Ennis then purportedly burglarized a neighboring residence, reportedly making off with various items.
The Chino Hills Police Department responded to the reports of the incidents and deputies began an investigation, gathering leads. It was later found through detective work, that Ennis was allegedly connected to other burglaries in Rancho Cucamonga, as stated in an official statement released by the Sheriff's Department. Collaboration between Chino Hills detectives and Rancho Cucamonga investigators led to his identification and subsequent arrest on June 5, during a traffic stop in Ontario.
Following his arrest, a search warrant was executed on Ennis' motel room by Chino Hills detectives, which may have contributed to further evidence relevant to the burglaries. Ennis was then booked at the West Valley Detention Center facing charges for residential burglary and attempted burglary. If convicted, Ennis faces serious charges related to these burglaries which remain an issue for homeowners in and around Chino Hills.
