The week of June 15-21, saw a concerted effort by law enforcement to clamp down on gang-related activities and gun crime in several communities of San Bernardino County, rooted in a sweep named Operation Consequences. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, the operation led to a dozen felony arrests and the seizure of numerous firearms.
Investigators, armed with eight search warrants, made contact with gang affiliates and individuals banned from owning firearms at various locations in Ontario, Rialto, Hesperia, and Rancho Cucamonga, as per the SBSD - Headquarters. The sweep has been part of a larger initiative funded by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, which sanctioned extra money for wide-scale crime prevention efforts, designed to enhance the quality-of-life for residents in the affected areas, it also focuses on suppressing violent crime and disbanding criminal gang activity.
The Sheriff's Department detailed the operation's scope, incorporating personnel from the Sheriff’s Gangs/Narcotics Division, Specialized Enforcement Division, patrol stations, and other regional and national law enforcement agencies such as the California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Probation, U.S. Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force, and Department of Homeland Security Investigations. This collective force concentrated on identifying, and arresting those involved in the illegal possession, production, and distribution of firearms.
