In a tragic unfolding of events, a father from Palmdale has been charged with the alleged murder of his infant son, with authorities yet to locate the child's remains; Yusef Dewees, 24, stands accused of ending the life of his three-week-old son, Baki Dewees, between May 2 and May 3, as reported by KTLA.
Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced the charges on June 5, expressing his deepest sympathies to the family, underscoring that "child abuse has no place in our society and such acts of violence are beyond the pale" according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Yusef Dewees now faces one count each of murder, assault on a child causing death, and child abuse under conditions likely to cause great bodily injury or death, While the investigation continues, officials have not recovered the infant's body despite their efforts which included combing through an Antelope Valley landfill.
Further details emerged about the case, previously indicating that the mother of the child, Rosealani Gaoa, had been arrested on suspicion of various child abuse charges before the infant's disappearance, the couple had four children at the time, Gaoa's arrest in Ogden, Utah led to one child being taken into custody by welfare officials and the remaining siblings were eventually removed by welfare officials in California, as stated by the KTLA.
