The National Weather Service in Philadelphia has issued a weather update promising a stretch of summery days ahead with sunny skies and climbing temperatures. According to the latest forecast by NWS, today Philadelphians can expect a high near 86°F, with light winds that might strengthen come morning. The evening will bring partly cloudy conditions, setting the stage for a balmy night with lows around 69°F.
Stepping into Friday, the weather takes a potentially tumultuous turn—there is a reported 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms post 2pm. That brings along the potential of new rainfall between a tenth and quarter of an inch. As the sun bids goodbye, the odds of wet weather rise to 60%, with showers and possibly a thunderstorm predicted between 8pm and 2am. While the report expects a return to partly cloudy post-storm, the residents must brace for an additional estimated quarter to half an inch of rainfall touching down before the break of day.
The weekend, however, promises reprieve. Saturday's outlook is sunny, boasting a comfortable high near 85°F and continued clear skies into the evening. The temperatures will cool to a lower 61°F at night. Following suit, Sunday reveals itself mainly sunny with a high again nearing 86°F, and only a slight cloud cover is expected as darkness falls, with lows around 65°F.
Looking towards next week, the temperature trend upward marches on. Monday is mostly sunny, peaking near 92°F. It is conversely not as fortunate at night. Despite the mostly clear skies, Philadelphia will experience a mild temperature rise, with lows coasting to around 70°F. The warm-up crescendoes come Tuesday, with the NWS forecasting a sunny day and a high near 95°F, only to inch higher to a scorching 96°F by Juneteenth.
