Port of San Diego Hosts Finale of 'A Day at the Park' Series at Bayfront Park in Chula VistaSource: Port of San Diego

The Port of San Diego is wrapping up its "A Day at the Park: A Port Experiences Series" with the last event of the year set to take place at Bayfront Park in Chula Rosa. Slated for Saturday, June 29, the community event will run from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., offering an assortment of activities against the scenic views of the bay waters lapping against the shore, and the nearly finished hotel and convention center standing sentinel.

In a press release from the Port of San Diego, Commissioner Ann Moore, Chula Vista’s representative on the Board of Port Commissioners, announced, as per the Port of San Diego, "The Port of San Diego is thrilled to invite the community to join us at Bayfront Park in Chula Vista to celebrate the final ‘Day at the Park’ event this year". The public is encouraged to take advantage of the free shuttle service making rounds from the Chula Vista Library-Civic Center Branch to the event location.

Visitors attending "A Day at the Park" can look forward to a lineup of local artists performing throughout the day, a range of food vendors serving up local flavors, and a variety of children's activities that promise delight. With no cost attached to the day's merriments, families can indulge in the cultural and gastronomic offerings representative of Chula Vista's community spirit.

The event series, which began with a gathering at Pepper Park in National City on May 18 and was followed by an event at Cesar Chavez Park in Barrio Logan on June 1, is part of the Port’s Tidelands Activation Program (TAP). The TAP initiative, according to the Port of San Diego, seeks to introduce and endorse events that garner community engagement and prompt visitors to explore and appreciate the San Diego Bay area. Free parking is also available on-site, and carpooling is heartily encouraged, creating a more sustainable approach to the influx of local revelers.
