Last week's knife-point robbery attempt in San Mateo County's North Fair Oaks neighborhood has led to an arrest. The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office announced yesterday that deputies took 37-year-old Gabriel G. Acosta into custody on Wednesday afternoon. Acosta, a Redwood City resident, was identified as the suspect who attempted to dangerously divest a victim of their money on May 30.
Deputies swiftly responded to the initial report of the incident, which took place just before 1 p.m. at a business located on the 3200 block of Middlefield Rd. According to the sheriff's office, the suspect had demanded cash while threatening with a knife and subsequently made to hastily escape in a vehicle.
It was on June 5, around 12:30 p.m., that deputies located and arrested Acosta in the 3700 block of Rolison Road in Redwood City. Law enforcement officials said the arrest occurred without incident. Following his arrest, Acosta was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on charges including strong-arm robbery and brandishing a deadly weapon. He faces additional legal woes as he was also booked on an out-of-county warrant and a probation violation.
The San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies also managed to recover the knife believed to have been used during the robbery attempt.
