On the afternoon of June 14, a bizarre incident unfolded at the Pet Smart located at 19011 Bear Valley Road in Apple Valley, prompting an intervention by law enforcement. According to official reports, at approximately 2:20 pm, deputies received a call concerning a woman's disruptive behavior within the store. Talisa Dyris Horton, a 27-year-old resident of Rialto, was the individual detained by store security prior to the arrival of Deputy A. Gonzalez.
The ensuing investigation detailed by the Apple Valley Sheriff's Station revealed Horton's erratic actions, which included shouting and tampering with a pet medication. Witnesses observed that she opened a bottle of the medication and proceeded to drink it, despite efforts by employees to intervene. Horton's conduct escalated to the point where she attempted to leave with the merchandise, culminating in her arrest by security personnel outside of the establishment.
Following the incident, Horton was arrested and later transported to the High Desert Detention Center. It was there that she was booked on charges of robbery. The San Bernardino District Attorney's office, from the Victorville division, moved forward with felony charges on June 17, keeping Horton in custody in lieu of a $90,000 bail. The case, marked under the number 182402895, is being handled by Deputy Gonzalez of the Apple Valley Sheriff's Station.
