A Riverside County Sheriff's Deputy, identified as 33-year-old Alexander Vanny, stands accused of sexual assault against a volunteer within the Sheriff’s Office. The allegations came to light when a volunteer confided in another deputy on June 21, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon hearing the volunteer's account, the deputy reported the incident to a supervisor, propelling the Special Victims Unit (SVU) into action. Misplaced faith in a system that ought to protect, it is now challenged to prove its merit by turning the watchful eye inward with an investigation into one of their own, Deputy Vanny. The investigation, as confirmed by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, found credible evidence to support the accusation levied against the deputy.
Vanny, who was hired in May 2016 and was most recently working at the Hemet Sheriff’s Station, was arrested on June 22. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office has placed Vanny on unpaid administrative leave, as he now resides in the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility facing several felony sexual assault-related charges.
The Sheriff’s Office has expressed its stance against such misconduct, whether on or off duty, displaying the determination to uphold integrity and professionalism within the ranks. In a statement laden with assurance and a promise of justice, obtained by the source article, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office stated, "The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office condemns any form of misconduct involving its personnel on or off duty and remains resolute in its commitment to deterring and preventing such behavior."
