
Local authorities in Crestline responded to a call regarding an unwanted individual on Ponderosa Drive, leading to the arrest of a 24-year-old man on drug possession charges. The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner's Department said in a statement that Vincent Jose Espinoza, a Rubidoux resident, was detained after deputies connected him to a report of a suspicious person outside a residence on June 20.
Deputies encountered Espinoza inside a vacant property close to the site of the original unwanted subject call. According to the sheriff's department, the deputies located approximately 50 grams of what they suspected to be methamphetamine, along with paraphernalia indicative of drug sales, including a scale, and a counterfeit U.S. currency, also, an airsoft pistol that resembled a firearm.
The official report confirms that Espinoza had a prior record, being on probation for an assault with a deadly weapon under California Penal Code 245. The deputies, upon discovering Espinoza's probation status and the evidence of drug possession for sale, took him into custody under suspicion of violating Health & Safety Code 11378 and the terms of his probation.
The incident that unfolded in the community of Crestline ended with Espinoza's booking at the Central Detention Center. His bail was set at $280,000 and he is being held on a no bail probation hold. The matter is being handled by Deputy N.
