
A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the fatal shooting of Angel Junior Vuelvas, also 19, in an incident that occurred on June 3 in Santa Ana, KTLA reports. According to police, Vuelvas was found with multiple gunshot wounds by officers arriving at the scene on South Poplar Street around 6:42 p.m.
The Santa Ana Police Department has identified the suspect as Gabriel Gutierrez, a Santa Ana resident like the victim of the police officers responding to the shooting. found Vuelvas who was pronounced dead at the scene—the gunman having already fled the area, according to the OC Register.
Gutierrez was taken into custody on June 7 and has been charged with murder, as per KTLA. He is now held at the Santa Ana Jail. While details of the motive and circumstances are still being investigated, police have considered the possibility that the shooting was gang-related.
