Following the chaotic gunfire on June 8 which erupted outside Sole’ restaurant on Broad Street in Augusta, Georgia, another suspect, Seven Whitfield, has been taken into police custody, joining Amazing Lee Blessed Brigham, previously arrested in connection with the incident. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) reported that Whitfield, 23, of Hephzibah, GA, was charged with aggravated assault and weapons possession during a felony.

The GBI divulged that three off-duty deputies at the scene first responded to the gunshots at around 1:15 a.m., encountering a man with an assault pistol. The suspect, now identified as Brigham, age 19, along with two bystanders, were all struck by gunfire amidst the officers' response; all three were transported to a local hospital for treatment. While no officers were hurt, the incident also led to bystanders suffering injuries, addressed shortly after the altercation.

According to GBI's update, Brigham, who was arrested shortly after the perpetrators traded bullets across a two to three-block span outside the bustling hub of nightspots, stands accused of two counts of aggravated assault in addition to gun possession during the commission of a crime. This violent exchange not only wounded human lives but left a visible scar on the community, as outlined by the GBI, with seven vehicles and various establishments being marked by the spray of bullets.

The independent investigation by GBI continues as they piece together the events that led to the gunfight. Once finalized, they will present their findings to the Augusta District Attorney's Office. At this juncture, details regarding what sparked the dispute, leading to this violent outbreak, remains unclear.
