The Michigan State Police reported that the single-vehicle crash happened near the Forest exit on M-10 when the man's vehicle ascended an embankment and overturned. Emergency medical services responded swiftly performing CPR on the driver at the scene, yet despite their efforts, he later died at a nearby hospital, according to FOX 2 Detroit.
While the immediate cause of the crash remains under investigation, no information has indicated whether substances like alcohol or drugs were involved. The freeway closure that ensued for the investigation caused considerable traffic delays but was reopened later, as stated by WXYZ. The identity of the driver had not been released pending family notification though Michigan State Police confirmed the man's age and residency in Southfield.
