Authorities have apprehended a suspect linked to a shooting that took place in Northwest Washington, D.C. The Metropolitan Police Department reported that officers swiftly responded to an incident in the early hours of June 21, where they found a man wounded from gunfire after an attempted car theft went violently awry. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the victim was engaging with his vehicle when he was assaulted by an individual attempting to hijack the car. A confrontation led to a second aggressor discharging a firearm, injuring the victim before the assailants escaped by car.
Despite the chaos of the crime, the wounded man luckily survived, having been transported to a local hospital where he received care for injuries deemed not life-threatening. Detectives assigned to the case worked quickly to thoroughly to track down those responsible.
In a breakthrough, the police made headway the following day. On June 22, as the investigation unfolded, 19-year-old Elijah Hernandez of Northwest was taken into custody. Hernandez now faces charges of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun), potentially marking a pivotal point in bringing justice to the case.
