Tragedy struck at a Los Angeles community event when an altercation led to the death of a teenager. According to NBC Los Angeles, an 18-year-old man was fatally stabbed at a pop-up carnival in Culver City. The incident occurred near the intersection of Venice Boulevard and Keystone Avenue and prompted the immediate shutdown of the carnival due to the violence.
Details surrounding what precisely escalated to the stabbing remain unclear, and law enforcement did not release the name of the deceased. Having died from injuries sustained from a stab wound to the stomach, the investigation by authorities continues – with no arrests announced in connection with the stabbing as reported by KTLA.
In a separate but related incident, KTLA also reports a 16-year-old Hispanic boy was stabbed multiple times by a 15-year-old boy during a fight at a street carnival in the Palms neighborhood of Los Cut. The Los Angeles Police Department-sponsored event was part of the weekend-long Palms Community Festival. Police indicated that the stabbing is believed to be gang-related, and as of early Sunday morning, no arrests had been made, nor was a suspect description released.
The victim, who had not been identified publicly, was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was tragically pronounced dead upon arrival. Despite the deadly incident, the carnival was reported to continue for its final night on Sunday. While the suspect fled the scene and remains at large, police have described him as a man between 15 and 20 years old, as outlined by ABC7. The community and the police are calling for anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
