
An 80-year-old Thousand Oaks man, Edward Fegley, has been arrested on charges of murder following the fatal shooting of another 80-year-old man, authorities reported; the incident took place at a residence on the 2400 block of Avenida De Las Plantas late Wednesday night, as KTLA outlines.
According to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, deputies received a call requesting a welfare check at approximately 10:05 p.m., upon their arrival, they discovered the victim with a gunshot wound, who was pronounced dead at the scene and while the victim's name has yet to be released an investigation by the Sheriff's Major Crimes and East County Major Crimes Units has started which is still ongoing, as detailed in the official Nixle alert.
Investigators believe a "physical altercation" prompted the violence, which resulted in Fegley allegedly shooting his roommate according to KTLA's report; Fegley was arrested on site, and booked into the Ventura County Main Jail, with bail set at $790,000.
Fegley's arraignment is scheduled for June 24 at the Ventura County Superior Court; those with any information regarding the incident are encouraged to come forward and contact Detective Michael Marco at 805-384-4739, offering them the possibility of a reward, as Ventura County Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for tips leading to an arrest and subsequent filing of criminal charges in the case making it a potential incentive for the community to help bring more clarity to the case, according to the Nixle notification.
