Early Saturday morning, tragic fires on Chicago's South Side with three fatalities and several injured, including children, following incidents in South Shore and Bridgeport neighborhoods. The Chicago Tribune reported a fire in the 2400 block of East 78th Street, South Shore, which resulted in one death and four injuries. Two of the injured were children reportedly taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition, while one adult was treated at the University of Chicago Medical Center and another at Advocate Trinity Hospital.

Meanwhile, approximately an hour earlier, another fire claimed a life in Bridgeport, where a woman, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene, as stated by CBS News Chicago. In an adjoining incident, a girl, aged 12, was transported to Stroger Hospital and is listed in fair condition. 

The cause of the South Shore fire is actively under investigation by the Chicago Fire Department, with details yet to be released on what initiated the blaze. The Bridgeport fire is being treated as a criminal act after reports by Chicago police confirmed an individual threw an incendiary device into an apartment leading to the destructive fire and the subsequent death and injury.
