Shoppers at the Houston Premium Outlets witnessed more than just discount deals on June 7th, when a suspected theft incident prompted a swift response from local law enforcement. Deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office were called to the scene at the Children's Place on the 29300 block of Northwest Freeway, as two individuals allegedly helped themselves to a significant haul, with stolen merchandise exceeding $2,500 in value from multiple stores at the complex.
The constable's staff arrived to disrupt the heist and successfully detained one of the suspects on the spot, identified as Santos Ordonez; meanwhile, his alleged accomplice, Ashley Faustino, attempted to flee on foot but her bid for escape was short-lived as deputies caught up and detained her as well. According to a statement from Constable Mark Herman's Office, their quick action led to both suspects facing the consequences of their purported shopping spree turned felony theft.
Addressing the incident, "they were arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Theft Aggregate out of the 180th District Court," announced Constable Mark Herman. In an effort to highlight the gravity of the situation and the serious nature of the charges, it was noted that Faustino also received an additional charge for her evasion attempt, resulting in a total bond set at $2,600; Ordonez's bond was pegged at a higher amount of $5,000.
The arrest at the Houston Premium Outlets serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by businesses in safeguarding their goods against theft, as law enforcement continues to keep a vigilant watch over public spaces to maintain order and uphold the law, with both suspects now awaiting the due process of the justice system and the Constable's Office determined to deter similar future offenses in the community.
