Major resurfacing is coming to Winnetka Avenue starting this Monday, June 17. Hennepin County will be giving some much-needed TLC to the stretch of County Road 103 running from 101st Avenue North in Brooklyn Park all the way to Great River Road (County Road 12) in Champlin. The announcement, made via bulletin, outlines a week-long traffic hiccup that is, of course, weather permitting.

The construction teams will take a divide-and-conquer approach. They will tackle one side of the road first, then the other. Drivers should be prepared for some stop-and-go traffic as they are escorted through in alternating one-way flows guided by a pilot car. If you were hoping to travel over Rush Creek Regional Trail or through the 109th Avenue North intersection, you'll have to wait a bit longer. It seems these sections have been scheduled for resurfacing at a later date.

While there might be some grumbling about the disruption, the county is asking for everyone's patience. This whole process is a necessary step in maintaining smoother roads and it's only a short-term inconvenience for all of us. Remember to watch out for the hardworking crews, drive slower, and maybe leave home a bit earlier with some extra coffee next week.
