A series of shootings on Chicago's West Side over the weekend has left one person dead and several others injured, sparking further concern about gun violence in the city. According to WLS, incidents included a fatal shooting of a 13-year-old boy and multiple others who sustained injuries ranging from critical to good condition.

Details emerged that among the wounded was a 33-year-old woman now fighting for her life at Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound to her abdomen. Standing in a backyard at about 10:20 P.M., she was one of three people shot in the 500 block of North Laramie Avenue on Friday night, reported the Chicago Tribune. A 42-year-old man with a graze wound to the head and a 49-year-old woman with a shoulder injury were the other two victims.

The incidents began with the tragic death of a 13-year-old boy, who was gunned down on the sidewalk in the Lawndale community. He was later pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital.

Also reported was a 34-year-old man who, after being struck by gunfire while driving, collided with several parked cars before being rushed to Mt. Sinai Hospital in serious condition. Four more people are recovering from their injuries following early morning incidents on Saturday. No suspects have been taken into custody, according to the reports provided by both sources.
