
A woman has been taken into custody by the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) in connection with a fatal stabbing incident in Southeast Washington. MPD reports indicate that the stabbing occurred on the evening of Saturday, June 22, at approximately 8:06 p.m.
Officers were dispatched to the 3500 block of East Capitol Street, Southeast after receiving a report of an assault. Upon their arrival, they discovered a man with multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim, identified as 31-year-old Dwayne Boyd, was of no fixed address.
In a follow-up to Saturday's grim discovery, MPD on Sunday, June 23, arrested 32-year-old Vanessa Bonaparte, also of no fixed address. Bonaparte now faces charges of First Degree Murder while Armed. The detectives' ongoing investigation into this incident has revealed that the nature of the offense was domestic.
MPD has not released further details regarding the nature of the relationship between Bonaparte and Boyd. This incident adds a somber note to the ongoing concerns about domestic violence that plagues many communities, highlighting the urgency of addressing such personal and societal conflicts.
