Frank Martz, the City Manager of Altamonte Springs, has made it clear the show will be a dense cluster of sky-high fire artistry. "We’re going to shoot almost 15,000 fireworks, about 10 every second," he said, as per WFTV. "It’s going to be intense, dense." Expectations for the show are high, despite, a reduction in the size of individual fireworks due to new structural additions around the lake.
In an age where safety is the mantra, the Altamonte Springs Police Department, along with assorted agencies, are setting up checkpoints to make the revelry a secure affair. Master Police Officer Deana DiPaola highlighted the precautions, stating as per ClickOrlando, "These check points they will be checking bags - backpacks and any coolers." In tandem, paramedics with Seminole County will be on standby for any medical emergencies, while reminding folks to preemptively hydrate to combat expected intense heat.
The thermostat's mercury is threatening to turn this event into a sizzle-fest, with a heat index soaring over 104 degrees. "If you have a chance to get in the shade and cool off a little bit do so," Assistant Chief Tod Zellers of the Seminole County Fire Department advised, according to a WFTV report.
