Anne Arundel County is bolstering its measures to maintain road safety by deploying a second batch of speed cameras near school zones. According to a report by Fox Baltimore, these cameras are scheduled for installation on July 24. The cameras are set to monitor areas around Annapolis Area Christian School, Folger McKinsey Elementary, Key School, Odenton Elementary, and Nantucket Elementary.
Motorists, breathing a temporary sigh of relief, should note that for the first 15 days after the cameras become operational, only warnings will be sent to those captured exceeding the speed limit. Post warning period, infractions for driving at a speed of 12mph or more over the limit will incur a $40 fine, as detailed by WMAR-2 News.
It's important to be aware that these school zone speed cameras are active Monday through Friday from 6 am until 8 pm, and this includes during holidays and summer breaks as well. Last month saw the introduction of an initial installment of cameras, stretching a safety net across various other school-related streets and avenues.
