An inter-departmental operation between Central Station deputies and other sheriff's offices in San Bernardino County has led to the arrest of two individuals, Consuelo Gutierrez and Johnny Mendoza, in connection with a burglary that occurred on June 17, 2024. The incident took place at roughly 9:13 am at the BWW and Company's location on the 24000 block of Redlands Boulevard in Loma Linda. Deputies were able to swiftly respond to the scene and initiate their investigation.
The primary lead was tracked down to a light brown Ford F-150 pickup truck believed to be associated with the crime. Eventually, a traffic stop on June 20th allowed deputies to detain Juan Arteago Avalos, the driver at that time, for his alleged participation. To later network closely with other jurisdictions was to reveal a deeper layer of connections between this vehicle and a spree of thefts across Rancho Cucamonga, signalling the possibility of a larger criminal picture.
According to a sheriff's department press release, this collaborative effort culminated on July 2 when members of the Central Station alongside the Multiple Enforcement Team (MET), detected the suspected vehicle in Rialto. It was there that they were able to execute a search warrant, with Rancho Cucamonga Station detectives aiding, that led to the discovery of evidence tying both Gutierrez and Mendoza to the crimes under investigation.
Gutierrez and Mendoza were subsequently arrested at the scene. Authorities are actively reaching out to the community for any further information regarding the incidents.
