A devastating multi-vehicle collision in South Los Angeles has claimed the life of a child and resulted in injuries to several others. The incident, which involved three vehicles, took place near 630 East Century Blvd. in the Green Meadows neighborhood on Friday evening, as confirmed by the Los Angeles Fire Department.
First responders were called to the scene around 6:20 p.m., where they discovered a 12-year-old girl had died as a result of the crash, according to KTLA. In a grim tally, nine others were found with varying degrees of injury, an adult female driver had to be freed from her vehicle, the "Jaws of Life" presumably at work to pry apart the mangled steel that once was a car.
The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that after the trapped adult female was extricated, she was transported to a nearby hospital in serious condition. In total, six adults and three juveniles were transported to hospitals in moderate to fair conditions, weaving a tapestry of the wounded and bearing witness to the chaotic and all-too-common threads of urban road violence.
The collision's cause is currently under investigation, the narrative incomplete as detectives piece together what transpired.
