The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is calling on the community to help identify suspects involved in a violent assault that took place on June 16, 2024. The incident, captured in a parking lot on the 5300 block of E. Independence Blvd in southeast Charlotte, involved a group on dirt bikes and ATVs who attacked a man after what appeared to be a heated confrontation, QC News reports.

Revealed through surveillance footage, multiple people on variously colored ATVs and dirt bikes – some yellow, while others are black or red – were seen speeding through the area where the attack occurred. In a distressing sequence, a man exits a sedan, approaches an individual on an ATV and is subsequently hit by a dirt bike, followed by an ATV collision that left him injured on the ground. Unlike help that should naturally follow such incidences, the suspects fled the scene, leaving the man without any immediate care, a statement obtained by WBTV summarizes.

Detective Clyburn from the CMPD expressed how difficult the footage was to watch, noting the lack of remorse shown by the assailants. "It’s difficult to watch – the fact that someone would react like that. Then, to leave him there with his injuries, no remorse. No one stayed to give him aid. No one called police," Clyburn said in an interview with WBTV. Despite the callousness on display, there is hope that with the community's help, the suspects can be identified and brought to justice.

The CMPD is urging anyone with information that can lead to identifying the individuals involved in the brutal attack to come forward. Those who wish to provide information can do so by contacting Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Tipsters can choose to remain anonymous, and they might be eligible for a cash reward if their information leads to an arrest. Additionally, community members can submit tips via the P3 Tips app, "I would certainly hope so. I would like to think someone knows them and can identify them," said Detective Clyburn, reiterating the need for community assistance.
