Two violent incidents in Long Beach have raised concerns in the community, as local authorities continue to investigate a stabbing and a separate shooting that occurred within hours of each other. According to the Long Beach Police Department, the stabbing incident took place in the early hours of July 14, close to 4:10 a.m., on the 6200 block of Atlantic Avenue where a male victim sustained a non-life-threatening wound to the upper body.
Reports from the scene indicate that the victim was ambulated alongside two other males right before being assaulted and though the victim's injuries were serious, they were not thought to be fatal; Long Beach Fire Department swiftly responded and facilitated his transport to the hospital where he remains in stable condition. The suspects, however, remain unidentified and at large after fleeing on foot—details on their descriptions or the altercation's motive are not yet available as the police continue to seek the truth behind this violent act.
Earlier the previous evening, on July 13 around 10:08 p.m., shots rang out in the neighborhood of the 1900 block of Lemon Avenue—a separate and equally alarming manifestation of Long Beach's undercurrent of violence. Responding to a shots call, officers arrived to find signs that a shooting had taken place and later confirmed that a male victim had transported himself to a local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound, described as non-life-threatening, to his lower body as per the LBPD.
