San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department reported that on July 1, deputies arrested 38-year-old Donte Sanders after he allegedly threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend; Sanders, a convicted felon from Spring Valley Lake, was found with an arsenal of firearms and ammunition in his home. In a statement obtained by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department's official press release, deputies responded to the 12600 block of Autumn Leaves Avenue after a distressing 911 call concerning Sanders' threats—a response that would unveil a greater violation of the law.
During the investigation, the deputies gathered enough information suggesting a crime took place, which precipitated them procuring a search warrant for the residence; Sanders was found in possession of 960 rounds of ammunition and seven firearms, including a short barrel automatic rifle and several stolen handguns despite his felon status forbidding him to own such items, as per the SBSD - Victor Valley Sheriff's Department. Sanders' arrest on multiple charges including terrorist threats, felon in possession of a firearm, and felon in possession of ammunition landed him in the High Desert Detention Center.
