July, famously pegged as Park and Recreation Month, is about to get extra lively for Dallas teens. Dallas Park and Recreation Department just rolled out the welcome mat again with their no-cost Teen All Access Pass. Chalking up its fourth year, the program offers Dallas teens and their buddies a summer to remember – and seriously, at zero cost, according to the City of Dallas.
Scramble to get these hot tickets, kiddos. Dallas is doling out 10,000 passes on a strictly first-come, first-served platter. As Mayor Eric L. Johnson put it, "I’m thrilled that our Park and Recreation Department is once again offering the Teen All Access Pass, which has proven year after year to be one of Dallas’ most popular summer initiatives," according to the City of Dallas. If you're between 13-19, hit up a local recreation center with proof of residency and snag that golden goose of a pass. Just to clarify, it lets one teen and three friends quickly jump into cool spots like nature and botanical gardens, museums, and even roller rinks – all free of charge.
To those pondering how to secure these passes, DallasParks.org is your treasure map. You've got to physically appear at one of the centers, wave that Dallas residency evidence, and they'll hook you up. By the way, in its debut year of 2021, the program chalked up over 14,000 free admissions from 7,000 passes. So, the impact? Huge.
A coalition of generous partner organizations and some civic enthusiasm, that's what. Arun Agarwal, president of the Dallas Park and Recreation Board, gushed about the initiative: "With help from many of our generous partner organizations, Dallas is giving young people a one-of-a-kind opportunity to enjoy unforgettable experiences and spend time this summer discovering new things to learn and do in the city," as per the City of Dallas. You've got places like The Sixth Floor Museum, Dallas Arboretum, and, well, so many others joining in to make it a summer worth every bit of the Texas heat.
