Dallas has roped in a veteran from the infrastructure realm to navigate its future sustainability challenges, as Dev Rastogi is set to become the Assistant City Manager overseeing the Sustainable portfolio come mid-July. With a mandate that spans critical departments including Aviation, Dallas Water Utilities, and Public Works, Rastogi's four-decade-spanning resume and long-time Dallas residency are expected to shape the future of the city's environmental quality and sustainability initiatives, according to the City of Dallas.
Rastogi joins the fray at a noteworthy moment, leaving behind her role as Senior Vice President at AECOM, where she was at the heart of strategy and growth for the firm's North Texas business, as well as leading their hefty $100 million transportation business that traverses Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas and it is with this background she aims to leave an indelible mark on Dallas's operational capacities and ecological aspirations. The City of Dallas announcement highlighted Rastogi’s tenure at AECOM, particularly emphasizing her role in spearheading innovative and complex infrastructure projects throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth region.
Her academic and professional credentials seem tailor-made for the role, with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Washington University and a Texas State-issued professional engineering license — not to mention being named Dallas Engineer of the Year by the Texas Society of Professional Engineers. In her new role, Rastogi will help steer Dallas toward its goals of economic vibrancy and equal opportunity growth, all while working under the stewardship of interim City Manager Kimberly Bizor Tolbert.
